Scend Studios and Scend GmbH create stories and experiences intended to be enjoyed by young people. We love hearing from young readers, and we want every interaction with us to be safe, respectful and appropriate.
If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to help you join our newsletters, memberships or organised activities.
You are welcome to send us questions about our books, characters, events and creative work. We may reply directly to a simple question, but we do not develop ongoing private one-to-one conversations with young readers. If a conversation needs to continue, we may ask for a parent, guardian, teacher or another responsible adult to be included.
We will never ask a young person to keep a conversation with us secret. We will not normally ask young readers for their home address, private telephone number, precise location, school details or private photographs.
If we need an address to send a prize or book to someone under 16, we will ask a parent, guardian, school or other responsible adult to provide it.
We do not publish a young person’s photograph, voice, creative work or identifiable contribution simply because it has been sent to us. Appropriate permission is required before we use it publicly.
Our safeguarding standards also apply to events, school visits, interviews, webcasts, social media and other Scend activities involving anyone under 18.
If a young person tells us something that suggests they or somebody else may be in serious danger, we cannot promise to keep that information secret. We may need to share it with an appropriate person or organisation to help keep them safe.
